Labradors and aggression are not synonymous, and we believe that Labrador Retrievers should not show or demonstrate any signs of aggression etc. Rather than just share our opinion, we have included a few relevant extracts from other sources.
For example, an extract from the official Labrador breed standard states:
"TEMPERAMENT - Intelligent, keen and biddable, with a strong will to please. Kindly nature, with no trace of aggression or undue shyness."
Another extract, this being from the Victorian Canine Association states:
"Breed Personality/Characteristics/Temperament Labradors Retrievers are intelligent, active, fun-loving dogs, eager to please and extremely sociable. They want to be everybodys friend, and are not a "one person dog". The breed is wonderful with children, and makes a good watchdog - adopting a big deep bark to notify of any intruders."
One more extract to complete the details about Labrador temperament, this one from the American Kennel Club:
"Temperament
True Labrador Retriever temperament is as much a hallmark of the breed as the "otter" tail. The ideal disposition is one of a kindly, outgoing, tractable nature; eager to please and non-aggressive towards man or animal. The Labrador has much that appeals to people; his gentle ways, intelligence and adaptability make him an ideal dog. Aggressiveness towards humans or other animals, or any evidence of shyness in an adult should be severely penalized."
We hope that the above information about Labrador temperament has been of assistance. .
